It's all thankless----rewarding, but thankless

I have been working on a sweater & hat set for my little granddaughter. No hurry-- she is a year old and I was not doing it at the request of the kids, just something G-ma wanted to make. One evening the kids popped by the house as I was working on the set. Now, mind you I had not shared that I was making this beforehand. Everyday since they've seen it they ask if I am done yet. First it was kind of cute and a good feeling to know that they were so interested. As the weeks wore on and the temperatures began to drop they made two or more inquiries a day about my progress on the set. Last night I finished it and oh my is it cute. Dig this. I called up the kids, they were really thrilled and wanting to know if she can wear it right away. Actually the comment was more like "Wow, now we don't have to buy her a coat!" Not "Gee moms, thanks so much. We love you. You're terrific." Just can she wear it right away?

Of course they do. It gets below -0- in Pennsylvania. These kids are in there mid 20's. I was a younger parent than them and know that a sweater & hat set is not enough to keep anybody warm in the winter. I asked my son what he was wearing for the winter. He is wearing a monster down coat, his wife is wearing a mini-down coat. What are they thinking? A sweater set and a blanket? This little lady can walk and is stubborn as all heck. I'd love to see them try to contain her in a blanket for the trip to and from the car.

Not to worry-----Grammy is on the job! Heading out to buy a coat First thing in the morning.
